Man From Snowy A Rum Chap<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

JINDABYNE, Thursday.<\/p>\n

It was a proud moment for the Daily Telegraph Polar expedition when it bought all the eggs in Jindabyne.<\/p>\n

The whole six of them.<\/p>\n

The hens had staged a stand-up strike. The butcher here is a butcheress, and wields a classy cleaver.<\/p>\n

A traffic cop in this town would have to bring his knitting with him if he wanted to keep awake.<\/p>\n

There is a small, round, silent cop in the main street, but nobody seems to know why.<\/p>\n

I have met the man from Snowy River.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He wears two pairs of trousers, drinks rum, and doesn\u2019t like food with his meals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He was a great disappointment to me.<\/p>\n

He Went Red<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Poor Wep, my caravan comrade, has decided to paint something.<\/p>\n

None of the scenery around here seems to suit him.<\/p>\n

I tried all kinds of scenery on him, but I\u2019m afraid that the Main Roads Board will have to make a few alterations in the general contour of the country before Wep is satisfied.<\/p>\n

Another thing is that he just made out his expense account and I had to post it for him.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He must have a conscience, because every time he approached the post office he went red in the face and became boyishly embarrassed, the burglar.<\/p>\n

Having no craven inhibitions, I posted it for him.<\/p>\n

When I get the courage I will send in my own expense account.<\/p>\n

Whip Music<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The wee snowflakes have started flickering down.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll tell you something.<\/p>\n

Have you ever heard a bullock driver singing \u201cDrifting and Dreaming\u201d?<\/p>\n

And accompanying himself with a 20-foot whip?<\/p>\n

I have, and you needn\u2019t lie awake worrying about it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

You haven\u2019t missed anything.<\/p>\n
