Just a note \u2013 I haven\u2019t much time to write at any length as I\u2019m only staying at this American bomber field for a day.\u00a0 This will be fully occupied getting around & having a look see.\u00a0 It is a big camp & takes a lot of covering.\u00a0 Will let you know more about it later.<\/p>\n

US mechanics putting a new propellor on a B24 Liberator bomber, Fenton Airfield, Northern Territory – At the time of Wep’s visit, the United States Army Air Force 528th and 530th Bombardment Squadrons of the 380th Bombardment Group (Fifth Air Force Group) was based at Fenton with B-24 Liberators.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Won\u2019t be getting back to Darwin until Wednesday which is unfortunate as I\u00a0 can\u2019t get my mail until I return.\u00a0 Hope everyone got my letters OK.\u00a0 Unless Mrs Jackson1<\/a><\/sup>Alice Jackson; editor of the Australian Women’s Weekly<\/span> gets up here before I leave I expect to be home fairly shortly \u2013 am getting to the stage of saying Thank God for that.<\/p>\n

Making Hamburgers<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The yanks do themselves pretty well in the way of food \u2013 they have more variety <\/span>& pay much <\/span>more attention to its preparation than do our own troops.<\/p>\n

Expect to be making back along the road tomorrow and to complete a couple of notes I have taken.<\/p>\n

Christ it\u2019s hot here.\u00a0 Sweat is just cascading off me.\u00a0 However it is not all distressing \u2013 feels quite pleasant as a matter of fact as the breeze evaporates it almost immediately.\u00a0 Nothing like Sydney\u2019s heat \u2013 i.e. Sydney\u2019s summer heat to you.<\/p>\n

Lots & lots of love honey.\u00a0 Am looking forward to getting your letters \u2013 I feel quite out of date.<\/p>\n
